Robert Tanner Brimson and Susannah (nee Waldock)
Robert Tanner Brimson, born 15th August 1828 in Broad Clyst, Devonshire. He was the illegitimate son of Mary Brimson and Robert Tucker.
Robert Brimson was convicted for stealing poultry under the alias Robert Tucker and sentenced to seven years transportation on 1st April 1851. He served his sentence on the prison hulk Warrior at Woolwich and was granted a ticket of leave on 11th June 1855. Two years later he was on trial again, this time for stealing a sheep. He was sentenced to eight years transportation on 24th March 1857 and eventually transported to Western Australia arriving on 18th August 1859.
Robert was granted a ticket of leave on 13th April 1861, a conditional pardon on 25th December 1863 and shortly after he married Susannah Waldock on 18th January 1864. The middle name Tanner was used on the marriage certificate though it is unclear why as his alias was Tucker which was his father’s name. Robert and Susannah had twelve children together. Robert died at Midland on 27th May 1920 aged 91 years.
